Hard To Be A God by Aleksei German and El Topo by Alejandro Jodorowsky are tributes to the weird, the obscure, man and immorality. Plot gets subsumed by the grotesque and regurgitated in a visual nausea of the absurd and more than enough guts and viscera cinema to boot. Hard To Be A God is a masterpiece of cinematography and scene, El Topo more gratuitous excess of the mind. Both are classics.
